A Small School with a Big Outlook

Bowland Class

Ofsted 2016 : “ Children make strong progress in the early years. They settle quickly into school and are supported in their learning by skilled staff and the older children in their class.”

Bowland Class is led by Mrs Pollitt and Mrs NIckson with Mrs Harrod as the teaching assistant. This is a mixed age class of reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Our children hugely benefit from working together and learning from each other. Peer Tutoring or “Teaching Time” is a favourite part of our English and Maths lessons!

Our family of learners are continually encouraged to be resilient, resourceful, enthusiastic and demonstrate excellent concentration.

Early Years

Children in Reception Class settle brilliantly into learning at our school. With a strong focus on the Prime Areas, our children are encouraged to form excellent relationships with staff and peers. Our interactive classroom environment invites pupils to learn whilst playing, with an appropriate balance of adult led and child led opportunities. Children’s strengths and interests are celebrated, and role-play and collaborative play are interwoven into all aspects of the curriculum. Our children are excited by learning- ongoing daily assessments ensure that all children make personal steps of progress every day. All of our children love to learn outdoors and Outdoor Learning is an exciting feature of our the class with a specially created and safe space for learning that leads directly from the classroom. “Open Learning” is a dedicated time of the day when all of Bowland Class can play and learn together, indoors or outdoors.
